Android - Android is a little trickier than iphone to scan sometimes.  Locate the nfc reader area on your phone, then place the chip no more than 1 cm from it and hold for 3 seconds or until the scan registers successful.

Apple - Locate the nfc reader area on your phone, then place the chip no more than 1 cm from it and hold for 3 seconds or until the scan registers successful.  Apple devices nfc readers are usually phone near the camera lens.
